251 Menlove Avenue (also known as Mendips) is a home of the National Trust. In the years 1945-1962 he lived in John Lennon, a member of the Beatles music group.

The house is located in Woolton, south Liverpool. It was built in the 1930s as a twin. When Lennon lived in it, he belonged to his aunt Mimi Smith and her husband, George. The marriage took him back to himself in 1945 when, after a divorce from her husband, Lennon's mother was unable to cope. Lennon moved to London from where he was 22 years old.

Despite the purchase of John Lennon's childhood home, the National Trust did not show any interest in acquiring Mendips. The house was eventually bought by John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, and offered to the organization. After the restoration work of the 1950s, it was made available to tourists on March 27, 2003.

She said, "When John's house was on sale, I wanted to keep it for Liverpoolers and fans of John Lennon and the Beatles all over the world." (Associated Press, February 14, 2003).

The house is on the cover of Oasis single "Live Forever".
