Jewish Hospital in Wroclaw - a Jewish medical institution in Wrocław, located at 92/96 Sudecka Street. He was the third Jewish hospital in the city and one of the most modern in Germany at the time.
In 1897, a decision was made to build a new Jewish hospital. In the same year a large plot of land on Sudecka Street was purchased. The architectural design was done by R. Herold and supervised by the brothers Ehrlich and H. Schmieden.
The ceremonial opening of the hospital took place at the end of April 1903. Even before the First World War an ophthalmologist was opened, and in 1912 the gynecological. In 1927, the first X-ray laboratory was opened in Wroclaw. In one of the large rooms of the hospital, there was a synagogue for staff and patients throughout its life.
The hospital in the 1930s had 400 beds and operated over 2 thousand patients. At the time the hospital's director was Ludwig Guttmann. After the outbreak of World War II, the hospital was taken over by the Jewish community and allocated to the needs of the army. The patients were transferred to several community buildings, among others. to the seat of the Management Board of the Jewish Community or the building of a new Jewish cemetery. In 1945 the hospital buildings were severely damaged.
After the war the hospital buildings were transferred to the Railway Hospital, which is still in existence today. At that time the buildings were repaired. Bibliography
