Abyssinian crisis
The Abyssinian crisis - from December 5, 1934 to October 3, 1935, the political crisis in East Africa. Its cause was the territorial claims of fascist Italy against Abyssinia. The crisis began with the killing of several Italian soldiers in the Ueluel oasis by the Ethiopians. British Prime Minister (Samuel Hoare) and French (Pierre Laval) have set up their own plan to settle the problem. Abyssinia was to give Italy 40% of its territory and give them the right to unlimited economic expansion to the rest of their territory. This proposal did not satisfy the Italian and outraged the Abyssinian Emperor. Mediations were discontinued on October 3, 1935, when the Italian troops entered Abyssinia. The Abyssinian crisis has led to the resignation of the then Prime Ministers of France and Great Britain.
