Alojzy Maciej Poprawa


O. Alojzy Maciej Poprawa EC (born 3 March 1893 in Kashow, died August 14, 1942 in KL Dachau) - Polish Catholic priest, Servant of God of the Catholic Church.

The son of Jozef and Rozalia from Skucińska's house, graduating from St. Sebastian's High School. Jacek in Cracow entered the novitiate in the convent of the Camaldolese Fathers in Bielany near Cracow. He was ordained priest on June 9, 1918, and then went on to study at St. Joseph's College. Anzelma in Rome.

Pastoral activity was undertaken by the masters of novices and superiors in the monastery in Bielany and the visitator of Camedul monasteries. In 1937 he undertook to rebuild and re-establish the monastery in Bieniszew.

After being admonished by the German occupation authorities for the right to a dignified life and human treatment of the inhabitants of Bieniszew, he was arrested on August 26, 1940. Fr. Alojzy was sent to the concentration camp Sachsenhausen on 29 August 1940 and was transferred to the Dachau camp on December 14, 1940 and registered as number 22577.

He died on August 14, 1942.

The author of the book "Życie św. Romuald the Father and the Patriarch of the Camaldolese.

He is one of the 122 Servants of God, to whom on September 17, 2003 the beatification process of the second group of martyrs from the Second World War began. Internet sources
