Watches from Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet - Swiss watch manufacturer of exclusive watches.

The company was founded by Le Brassus, 23-year-old Jules Audemars, and 21-year-old Edward August-Piguet at the Vallée de Joux (Valley of the Watches) in 1875. Between 1894 and 1899 the company produced only 1200 watches and over the years this production did not increase significantly despite technological advances, reaching 16,000 units in the years 2000-2007. The company has introduced a lot of innovations in the world of mechanical watches that are still used today by all major watchmaking manufactures. The most famous is the minute repeater called Minute Repeater and a pocket watch with a jumping second hand, known as jumping second-hand. In 1925 Audemars Piguet also constructed the thinnest pocket watch in the world. Then came the world's thinnest automatic mechanism built together with another famous Swiss manufacturer, Jaeger LeCoultre, which used a 21-carat gold flywheel. In 1972 the company released its most famous "Royal Oak" model designed by Gerald Gente.

Until now, the company produces mechanical watches only hand-made, although the production process is longer. Audemars Piguet owned 40% of Jaeger LeCoultre, which in 2000 was branded by the Richemont Group. Bibliography
