Boleslaw Jaxa-Rożen


Boleslaw August Hilary Jaxa-Rożen (born October 15, 1815, died June 22, 1883 in Bochnia) is a landowner, participant in the November Uprising, Cracow Insurrection and January Uprising.

He was the son of Antoni (the coat of arms of Gryf) and Tekla of Cieński (Pomian coat of arms). At the age of 15 he took part in the November Uprising. Served as a NCO in the 12th Infantry Regiment. In 1835 he married Katarzyna Grabczyńska, known by a friend and comrade of arms from the uprising of Józef Długoszowski, the grandfather of General Boleslaw Wienawa-Długoszowski. He leased and administered the estate in Roznów, the former Roznov family nest, and in Tropiu.

In 1846 he participated in the preparations for the uprising of Cracow. Arrested. Until 1848 he was a prisoner of state. His brothers, Wlodzimierz and Arthur, and a large part of the distant family were killed in 1846 during the Galician slaughter. After release he ran a farm in his family estate in Gierczyce and Cerekwi.

Despite his advanced age, he also took part in the January Uprising. In 1863 he was appointed deputy head of the civil organization of the Bochnia county.

He died in 1883. His grave is located in the Cerekwi parish cemetery. He had four children: Hilaria (married Chodorska), Valery (married Onitsch), Bronislaw (married Bialobrzeska) and Mieczysław. Bibliography
