Cloudmaker

T-12 w United States Army Ordnance Museum Cloudmaker (T-12) - the largest (43,600 lb / 20,000 kg) conventional bomb used by the US Air Force. It was developed in 1944 and is practically the successor of the British Grand Slam. Only a mighty B-36 Peacemaker bomber could transport it, which could transport two bombs after reconstruction. These bombs were so constructed that after the dump they were about to break into the ground and bring about an earthquake-like effect. The targets were viaducts and bunkers that were resistant to conventional bombs. Because of this, the tip of the bomb was particularly strengthened to avoid deformation at the time of the fall. There were also plans for the T-16, which weighed 50,000 pounds (22,680 kg), even tests of B-36 dump were made, but production never occurred. Technical data
