Brahmasutry
Brahmasutry or Vedantasutra - an ancient Hindu philosophical treatise dating back to the 1st and 4th centuries BC. It was written by Badarajana, the basis of Vedanta philosophy.
The later prominent thinkers of this system wrote comments to him, because it is very difficult to understand. Brahmasutras are relatively short-lived, consisting of only 555 (five hundred and fifty five) sutras, or very brief aphorisms. Brahmasutras focus on Brahman, they list the epithets and qualities the sacred Hindu scriptures describe. Much of Brahmasut, in addition to strictly philosophical themes, is devoted to the interpretation of particular doctrines contained in Indian philosophical traditions and polemic with other systems. Brahmasutras also form a new school of Hindu thought - Vedanta and much of it is devoted to discourse with other schools of Indian thought. Brahmasutras are divided into four chapters - adhjies, each divided into four shorter parts - paddles.
