Ian Forsyth


Ian Forsyth (born 1947 in Perth) is an Australian diplomat, Australian Ambassador to Poland and Czech Republic, based in Warsaw, Poland, from 2005 to 2008.

She comes from Perth. He is a graduate of economics at the University of Western Australia. In 1976-1977 he worked at the OECD Secretariat in Paris. He then held a number of positions in the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. From 1984 to 1988, he served as commercial counselor at Washington DC and then returned to work at Canberra headquarters. Between 1998 and 2001 he was an ambassador to Turkey and then a permanent representative to the OECD in 2005. Since June 2005 he was an ambassador in Poland, replaced in July 2008 by Ruth Pearce.
