nycteus

Niketus (Nykteus, gr. Νυκτεύς, Latin Nycteus) - figure in Greek mythology. He was the brother of Likos. He had two daughters, Antiopa and Nykteis.

Hyrieus, son of Poseidon and Alaskan Pleiades, founder of the city of Hyria, was the father of Nikita and Likos. Her mother was a nymph of Klonia. According to the late Mormons, Hyrieus was also an Orion.

There are, however, other reports on the origin of Nicest. According to some, he was the son of Poseidon and the Pleiades Kelajno - this version was created by the confusion of various Likos, one of whom was the son of Hyrieus and Klonia, the other son of Poseidon and Kelajno. In another version, Niktus and Likos were the sons of Chtonios, one of the Sown People.

Antiopa caused Zeus to have two sons, Amphion and Zetos. Fearing for his father's anger, she fled the kingdom with her children. Disappointed Niketus killed himself, referring to Antopa's brother Likos and his wife Dirke. Bibliography
