Shantung (fabric)
Shantung - a kind of soft silk fabric made of raw yarn, with characteristic irregularly distributed, lumpy beads (yarn ornate threaded) in the weft. Originally uncolored, now available in different colors. The name also refers to cotton fabrics and chemical fibers designed to imitate silk shantung.
Shantungs are used in both women's and men's tailoring, as well as artificial light curtains.
The name of the fabric comes from the Chinese province of Shandong, where it was originally made.
