Butser Ancient Farm - an active replica of an Iron Age farm near Petersfield, Hampshire, UK. There are long-term experiments on plant cultivation, animal hunting and production in prehistory and period of Roman influence. Interest period covers the years 400 p.n.e. - 400 n.e.
The farm was founded in 1972 by Peter J. Reynolds (1939-2001), an archaeologist and named after the original position on Butser Hill, a few miles from Petersfield. In 1976, Hillhampton opened its second post a mile away, and closed its original position in Butser Hill in 1989. In 1991 the project was transferred to Bascomb Copse in Chalton, Hampshire, about 5 km from the site. Farm buildings are styled on pre-Romanesque houses and Roman villas. The farm is open to the public.
