Astrolite

Astrolith is a trade name for the family of explosives, invented by Gerald Hurst chemist in the 1960s, when he was employed at Atlas Powder Company. Astrolite family contains two components: Astrolite G and Astrolite A. Both are two-component, liquid, highly explosive mixtures consisting of ammonium nitrate (oxidizer) and anhydrous hydrazine (rocket fuel). They are still used in industry and military, but are mostly replaced by cheaper and safer ingredients, mainly due to the price and the unique harmfulness of hydrazine (a highly toxic substance).
