Ilona Gusenbauer, maiden name Ilona Majdan (born 16 September 1947 in Gummersbach) is an Austrian athlete who specializes in high jump.
The first international success was recorded in 1968 when she took 8th place at the Olympic Games in Mexico. In 1970 she became the first European champion to beat the world record of 1.88 m. In the same year she won the bronze medal at the Universiade in Turin. Three weeks later, in Vienna, jumping 1.92 meters, he improved his world record by 1 cent for 10 years to Rolf Iolanda Balaş. This success led to the Austrian athlete of 1971. During the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Gusenbauer won the bronze medal with a score of 1.88 m.
