Leopold Friedrich zu Stolberg

Leopold Friedrich zu Stolberg (born 7 November 1750, died 5 December 1819) is a German poet from Holstein and a Danish diplomat.

From 1770 he studied in Halle (with his brother Christian zu Stolberg) (1748-1821).

In 1777, Bishop Lübeck appointed him as his deputy in Denmark and went to serve in that country.

In 1788 he became the ambassador of Denmark to Berlin, where his nephew Christian Günther von Bernstorff (1769-1835) joined him (1789-1835) as secretary of the Legation. In Berlin he married and completed his mission (in 1790) went on a European tour accompanied by Goethe.
