Telephone insulator
Telephone and telegraph insulators - insulators for the installation of a telephone or telegraph cable. They are found on columns and old buildings.
They were produced from about 1849 until 2005. Teletechnical insulators were mainly made of porcelain, rarely of glass. They are mounted on steel hooks, screwed directly into the pole or into the building wall. Hooks were put on by hooks, plaster, cement or other rags or old newspapers.
They were manufactured in different factories: porcelain: Rosenthal (Germany, Bavaria) Hescho (Germany) Hermsdorf (Germany) Siemens (Germany) Thomas Jahrger (Germany) Sonnenber (Germany) Closter Veilsdorf (Germany) Richard Ginori (Italy) Telephone insulators are also of interest to collectors.
