Grażyna Dziedzic (swimmer)


Grażyna Dziedzic (born January 14, 1963 in Auschwitz) is a 13 times champion of Polish seniors in swimming, a bronze medalist of the European Championships in Split, a European medalist in Gothenburg, a three-time world champion in swimming in Ecuador. Curriculum vitae

She began her studies in sports class at Primary School No. 8 in Auschwitz, (later Sporting School). She learned to swim while being in the third grade. One year later, she started in the first competition as a crawler. Then she went under the tutelage of Kazimierz Woźnicki, who discovered her predisposition to classical style. The first success was in the 1975 Cracovian championship, winning the title of youngsters at a distance of 800 m freestyle. In the same category she won the vice-championship of Poland. In 1977, after being appointed junior national junior, in the last grade of primary school she moved to the newly created School of Sports Championship in Raciborz, where she was to develop her talent and abilities. However, the coach of Vladimir Mitrofanov did not place much hope in succession in Grażyna. She returned to Auschwitz and began her studies at the Secondary School. At the same time, she was training and succeeding as a coach of Kazimierz Woźnicki in the swimming section of KS Unia Oswiecim. She finished her professional career in 1984. In 1996, she won the plea for the best player of the 50th anniversary of the Union.
