Hong Kong Emblem

Hong Kong Emblem Hong Kong's colonial coat of arms (1959-1997)

The Hong Kong Emblem was accepted on 1 July 1997 with the return of Hong Kong to China by the United Kingdom. The emblem depicts the same elements that were placed on the Hong Kong flag. Bauhinii flower symbolizes the people of the region, and five stars come from the Chinese flag and means that Hong Kong is an integral part of the People's Republic of China. Around the central part of the emblem is the official Hong Kong name in Chinese (traditional writing): 中華人民共和國 香港特別行政區 (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China) and Hong Kong in English.
