Manuel Rojas


Manuel Rojas Manuel Rojas (born January 8, 1896 in Buenos Aires, March 11, 1973 in Santiago), Chilean writer and literary critic, journalist.

He was born in the capital of Argentina, but his parents were Chileans. During his childhood and early youth he lived in both countries, eventually settling in Chile. He has worked in many occupations, including carpenter, peace painter, agricultural worker. He moved from place to place, learning the southern tip of the continent. The experience gained was reflected in his work, even in the autobiographical elements of the son of the thief. Rojas's characters are people from a similar social class, sometimes belonging to a criminal underworld.

He made his debut as a poet in the early 1920s. He wrote stories, the first novel - Lanchas en la bahía - published in 1932. He worked in the National Library, writing for newspapers. In 1957 he was honored with the State Literary Prize. Polish translations Authoritative control (person):
