Josef Mikl
Josef Mikl (born August 8, 1929 in Vienna, March 29, 2008) - Austrian painter and graphic designer. From 1946 to 1948 he attended the Höhere Graphische Bundes- Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Vienna, and then in 1948-1955 he studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts at Josef Dobrowsky. In 1956 he formed (together with Wolfgang Hollegha, Markus Prachensky and Arnulf Rainer) an artistic group of p.n. "Galerie nächst St. Stephan". In 1964 he participated in the exhibition of contemporary art documenta 3, and in 1977 - in documenta 6. In 1968 he represented Austria at the Venice Biennale. In the years 1969-1997 he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Josef Mikl represented in his works abstract realism with a human figure as the main subject. He attached great importance to the drawing.
