Maria Marevna


Maria Marevna, Maria Rozanowicz-Vorobieff (Russian: Воробьёва-Стебельская, Мария Брониславовна) (born 14 February 1892 in Cheboksary, died 4 May 1984 in London), known from the Marevna nickname given to her by Gorki - cubist painter.

She was born as an illegitimate daughter of Pole Bronisław Stebelski and actress Maria Worobiowa. She was educated at the Stroganov Drawing School with Osip Zadkin.

In 1912 she lived in Paris, where she met most of the French bohemians. In La Rotonde she met Modigliani, Chagall, Kisling and many others. She had a daughter with Diego Rivera. In addition to painting, she also dealt with the use of art and fashion design.
