Sabouraud's medium

Different colonies of fungi

Sabouraud medium - a medium used in microbiology for the cultivation of mushrooms. Ingredients are agar, distilled water, growth factors (glucose, pepton) and antibiotics. Among the most commonly added are penicillin, streptomycin or chloramphenicol - they serve to inhibit the growth of bacteria, as well as acidic pH. The substrate must be sterilized in an autoclave.

Usually two farms are established - at 25 ° C and 37 ° C, as the mushrooms grow in different temperature ranges. Bibliography
