Tom Grant (private detective)


Tom Grant - Private investigator known for his involvement in important cases involving famous clients. Grant owns and manages his own detective agency, The Grant Company. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1969 and was promoted to detective in a few years. In 1975 he left the sheriff's department and began work in business as a security consultant. He later obtained a private detective's license and opened an office in Beverly Hills, California, where he specialized in criminal investigations. The list of clients includes some of Hollywood's biggest names. Grant gained publicity at the end of 1994 when he claimed that rock star Kurt Cobain, the leader of the popular Nirvana band, did not commit suicide as claimed by police reports but was assassinated.

Cobain's interest in Grant resulted in a great deal of media attention. Grant appeared on the television program Unsolved Mysteries, Nick Broomfield's documentary Kurt and Courtney, and on NBC's Dateline NBC. He also took part in The Tom Leyskis Show, on the Los Angeles radio. Grant's efforts were also an inspiration for two books relating to Cobain's death.

After the case of sexual harassment against Bill Clinton, Tom Grant was hired by Paul Jones. In November 1997 Grant went to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he spent nearly two months assisting Mrs. Jones and her team in an initial investigation into the president.
