Tresfjord


Tresfjord is a village in Møre og Romsdal, in the Vestnes municipality, in Norway. The population is 1491 (2003 figures).

The village is famous for its Ridderost cheese production. Tresfjord is home to the Tresfjord Museum, opened in 1949, featuring exhibits on everyday life in the village in the nineteenth century. The museum is housed in six buildings. Next to the museum is the oldest in the municipality, a 19th century church built in 1826.

There are also Statoil gas station, Spar food store, Ridderkroa restaurant, Trygdeheim old house, Salthammer shipyard, primary school and kindergarten.

Terje Rypdal (composer and guitarist) and Jakob Rypdal (winner of the bronze medal at the Lillehammer Olympics) are well known.
