Wilhelm Friedrich Karl von Schwerin


Wilhelm Friedrich Karl von Schwerin (born 11 December 1739, died 17 August 1802) is a Prussian count, a military and diplomat, a descendant of the well-known Schwerin noble family.

Since 1753 he served in the Prussian army. In 1756 he was an adjutant of General Winterfeld. From 1757, aide to King Frederick II. Wounded in the battle of Zorndorf (1758). After the battle the Russians took him captive, from which he left in 1760. From 1762 he was a Prussian ambassador in St. Petersburg, then a general inspector of West Prussia and a military governor of ToruĊ„. In 1794, the commander of the South Prussian army until April 18, 1794, then resigned and replaced by General Favrat.

In May 1795, he was imprisoned (due to accusations of poor preparation of the siege of Warsaw (18 September - 2 November 1794 - commander on the left bank of the Vistula). Bibliography
