Xaver Strauss


Xaver Strauss (born 1909, died?) - Nazi criminal, head of administration of Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp and SS-Hauptsturmführer.

As a merchant. Member of the SS since 1933 (ID number 161264) and NSDAP since 1937. He joined the Waffen-SS Strauss in 1934. He began his service in concentration camps in Dachau in 1938. From 1938 to 1940 he was a member of the Flossenbürg staff. In May 1940 he was transferred to Mauthausen, where he stayed until August 1942. At that time he was directed to fight on the eastern front within the 1st SS Infantry Brigade. Strauss returned to Mauthausen at the end of February 1943 and remained there until May 7, 1945, exercising a high position as head of the camp administration. He was responsible for the terrible conditions of the stay and the food of the prisoners of the camp. He also participated in executions and repeatedly abused prisoners.

In the twelfth trial of the Mauthausen-Gusen crew in front of the American Military Tribunal in Dachau, Xaver Strauss was sentenced for his crimes for life imprisonment. Bibliography
