54th Infantry Regiment West Norfolk


<54> West Norfolk Regiment of Foot - The British Infantry Regiment was formed in 1755 as the 56th Regiment of Foot.

Number 54 gained when 50 and 51 infantry regiments ceased to exist.

August 31, 1782 it was renamed to the 54th West Norfolk Infantry Regiment. His soldiers fought during the Napoleonic wars in Spain and the Crimean Peninsula.

The branch ceased to exist in 1881, when it was under the so-called. The Childers Reforms together with the 37th Infantry Regiment Dorsetshire created the Dorset Regiment. Bibliography
