Adam Strug (publicist)


Adam Strug (born December 24, 1927 in Lviv, died August 23, 2007 in Józefów) - Polish journalist, writer, columnist, anti-communist, social and self-government activist, mayor of Józefów, member of the regional authorities of the Democratic Party - demokraci.pl

During World War II he was a soldier of the Home Army. In 1952 he graduated from the Cracow University of Economics. He worked in the city department of "Gazeta Krakowska" (1953-1954), "Youth Banners" (since 1956), "Technical Review" (1971-1981).

In the years he was an activist of "Solidarity" in the Sigma Publishing House. In 1982 he was negatively verified and lost his job. In the same year he started cooperation with the publishing agency Omnipress, which focused journalists and columnists released from various editorial boards for political convictions, in subsequent years he directed the department of economic journalism and editorial staff of books. In 1984 he was a co-founder of the "Liberation" Political Movement, and in 1984-1989 he ran a publishing house and a political monthly with the same name. In 1987 he belonged to the so-called initiators. Between 1989-1990 he was a member of the Democratic Center (headed by his Warsaw branch), from 1990-1991 belonged to the Center Agreement and was also a member of the Union of Freedom. He was mayor of the city of Józefów in the years 1994-1995, the councilor in the years 1994-2002 (1st and 2nd term), and the chairman of the Józefowa III City Council in 1998-2002.
