Annibale Maffei


Annibale Maffei (born 1666, died 1735) is a diplomat, politician and military diplomat.

He represented the Principality of Savoy-Piedmont as deputy Victor Amadeus II in London in the years 1699-1704. He was the commander of artillery (gran maestro d'artiglieria) of Savoy.

In the years 1710-1713 he represented Sabaudia at the congress in Utrecht. On her behalf signed a peace in Utrecht (1713). In September 1714 Viktor Amadeus II appointed him viceroy of Sicily, before setting off on his way back to Turin on 5 September 1714. This viceroy was until 1718, when the Spanish cavalry commander Giovanni Francesco di Bette marqued Di Lede. Bibliography
