Ernst Trömner

Ernst Trömner (born 1868 in Meran, May 27, 1930 in Hamburg) is a German neurologist. He was a professor and director of the neurological department of the hospital. Gregory of Hamburg from 1919 to 1930.

In 1910 he presented his own neurological hammer, which soon became very popular in Germany and the United States.

Trömner's name is also associated with the name of the reflex he describes (Trömner's reflex). When the neurologist takes the patient's hand and gently hits the tip of his or her fingers in the tip of the patient's freely hanging fingers, there is a shrinkage of the flexor muscles of all fingers, including the thumb. If this reaction is exacerbated, or other pyramidal symptoms are present (eg, Babiński's symptoms) or the reaction is asymmetrical, this symptom is due to damage to the pyramidal pathways.
