Baku International Airport. Heydər Əliyeva (IATA: GYD, ICAO: UBBB) (formerly Bina Airport) is an international airport in Azerbaijan, located 20 km northeast of the capital city of Baku. The airport is the main hub of Azerbaijan Airlines, the national carrier of Azerbaijan. Largest airport of Azerbaijan and Caucasus. On March 10, 2004 the airport was named after Heydəra Əliyeva, former president of Azerbaijan - a highly respected leader of the nation. Then the IATA code of the airport was changed - from BAK to GYD. The airport consists of two passenger terminals (north and south) and a cargo terminal. The airport is also home to Silk Way Airlines.
