Józef Kotyś


Józef Franciszek Kotyś (born February 10, 1963 in Strzelce Opolskie) - Polish politician of the German minority, self-government. Curriculum vitae

He completed his studies in Polish philology at the Higher School of Pedagogy in Opole. He worked as a primary school teacher in Staniszczach Maly. From 1990 to 1994 and again in the years 1998-2005 he was the mayor of the town and the municipality of Kolonowskie.

In the years 1999-2002 he sat in the Opole parliament of the first term. In 2001 he successfully ran for the Senate. In 2005 he became deputy speaker of the voivodship (in place of Richard Galli). He also held the post after the local elections in 2006, where he was re-elected to the Sejmik III term. The function of the Vice-Marshal of the voivodeship until 2010, in the same year and in 2014 again became a voivodship councilor. In 2011 he was again a candidate for the German Minority for the Senate.

It belongs to the leaders of the Social and Cultural Society of the Germans in Opole Silesia. He is also Vice-President of Silesian Development Foundation and Support for Local Initiatives. Bibliography
