ADtranz - a German company existing between 1996 and 2001, being the second largest producer of rolling stock and equipment in the world. The company was established in 1996 as a result of the merger of ABB and Daimler subsidiaries ABB Henschel and AEG Transportation. For three years both corporations had half of the company's shares.
In 1999, DaimlerChrysler bought all shares from ABB and became the sole owner of Adtranz, whose name was changed to DaimlerChrysler Rail Systems. In 2001, the company was sold to the Canadian group Bombardier Transportation, where most of its plants operate today.
In Poland, Adtranz owned the Pafawag plant in Wrocław, currently operating as Bombardier Transportation PAFAWAG Sp. with o.o.
The main products of the company were trains (both for traditional railways and subway networks and for various types of high-speed trains), trams and various railway infrastructure.
