Nicolò Spinola

Nicolò Spinola (born 1678, died 1743) is a Genoese politician.
He came from the richest family of the Genoese Republic. His father was Francesco Maria Spinola.
From 16 February 1740 to 16 February 1742, he held the office of Genoa.
During his administration, an incident occurred. Genoa's enemy and Mediterranean pirate patron Tunis took control of the island of Tabarca, belonging to the Lomellini family, making slaves of islanders, most of them Genoese natives. Nicolò Spinola appointed Carlo Goldo as General Consul General of the Genoese interests in the Republic of Venice.
