Eugeniusz Pieniążek

Eugeniusz Pieniążek (born 1934) - Polish pilot, designer of the Kukułka single-person plane.

After the persecution of the UB for contacts with the Swedes, he decided to build a plane between 1969 and 1971. Initially the building was in a residential block, later it was moved to the hangar of the aeroclub. Items not on the staircase were dropped on ropes from the first floor window. For its construction, the rear part of the hull was used and the sail of the Seal 4 and modified wings from the glider Jaskółka. September 13, 1971 illegally left Poland. He flew from Krosno during the stormy and foggy weather at the height of the trees. Slovakia and Hungary reached Subotica in Yugoslavia. While traveling, he used the car map as he drove along the roads and rivers. As a result of a long trip, his right leg suffered partial paralysis. After landing, he was sent to a Yugoslav prison and after seven months, he was given a one-day pass provided he did not return. Eventually his journey ended in Sweden. After several years, he also brought a family there. After escaping to the West, the plane was removed from the Polish register on July 29, 1972. In 1992 the aircraft was registered in Sweden with the SE-XKK mark. Since 1997, the plane has returned to Poland under the SP-FKU number. On September 13, 2005, the designer handed over the plane to the Polish Aviation Museum in Cracow.

In 2005 he was devoted to the 7th episode of TVN's Great Escape.
