Hermann Sommerfeld
Hermann Sommerfeld (born October 31, 1891,?) is a Nazi criminal, commander of a column of prisoners during the evacuation of the Flossenbürg concentration camp and SS-Obersturmführer.
Born in Eichfier. Member of the Waffen-SS since January 1945. In April 1945 he commanded one of the columns of the prisoners during the death march of Flossenbürg. The column consisted of about 1000 prisoners and 200 SS men. He issued orders to murder prisoners unable to continue marching, but at the same time he shot two Polish Jews.
In the first trial of Flossenbürg's crew before the American court in Dachau Sommerfeld was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for his crimes. He was released from prison in Landsberg on 23 February 1951. Bibliography
