Richard William Howard Vyse Richard William Howard Vyse (July 25, 1784 - June 8, 1853) was an English engineer, colonel and archaeologist.

He came to Egypt in 1837 to excavate and study the interior of the pyramids. He started working there with J.S. Perringiem. In 1839, they investigated pyramids in Medum and Abu Roash, three small pyramids south of the Menkaure tomb discovered the interior of the pyramids in Dahshur.

October 15, 1839, when their workers broke into one of the chambers of the southern Snofru pyramid in Dahshur, they experienced a strange phenomenon: a strong wind began to blow from the inside of the building. It worked continuously for two days, then the wind suddenly and suddenly stopped.

Between 1837-1839, Vyse and Perring investigated the Chufu Pyramid in Giza. Their work was later verified in 1882 by William F. Petrie. They also found that the cover of the Chefren sarcophagus lying on the floor of the burial chamber in the pyramid was sealed with a kind of molten resin. In the pyramid Mykerinos found fragments of a wooden coffin and skeleton of a man, today located in the British Museum. In the pyramid of Senuseret III in Dahshur they discovered in 1839 several carved blocks with the name of the ruler. Authoritative control (person):
