John Marshall is known as a member of the Metal Church (1989-1993, 1998-2001). Before joining the band in 1989, he was a guitarist (bandleader) for Metallica, specifically their guitarist Kirk Hammett. He also replaced James Hetfield in 1986 when Hetfield had a broken arm after a skateboard accident, as well as in 1992, when Hetfield recovered from burns from the Guns N 'Roses concert in Montreal.
