Location of Phi Phi Islands
Phi Phi Islands (Thai: เกาะ พี พี Phi Ko Phi Phi) is a group of islands belonging to Thailand, located between Phuket Island and the mainland. They are part of Krabi Province. Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest and most inhabited island. Ko Phi Phi Lee, famous for its beaches, is equally visited by tourists. The rest of the islands are scattered along the limestone rocks.
On December 26, 2004 the islands were severely affected by the 10 m high tsunami waves caused by the severe Indian Ocean earthquake.
