Grzegorz Grynkiewicz
Grzegorz Grynkiewicz (born 9 August 1939 in Częstochowa) is a Polish chemist, professor of chemical science, associated with the Pharmaceutical Institute in Warsaw.
Progress on carrierGrzegorz Grynkiewicz graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw in 1962. Since 1968, he received a doctorate in chemical sciences from the Habilitation Department in 1979.
He was awarded the title of professor of chemical science in 1992. In 1962-1982 he worked at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and since 1984 in the Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1992-1998 he was Deputy Director of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute. Academic achievements
He has co-authored more than 100 publications of original works, over 30 monographs and reviews, numerous lectures at scientific conferences, and co-authored over 50 patented inventions in the field of natural chemistry, chemical synthesis and pharmacy. His most famous achievement is the development, during his career at the University of California at Berkeley, of a series of fluorescent indicators that selectively complex calcium ions. These compounds are commonly used for confocal microscopy determination of intracellular calcium ion concentrations in biochemical, pharmacological and medical studies.
According to the Science Citation Report ISI for 1965-2004, his work was cited 16,506 times in scientific publications, which puts him among the most cited Polish scientists. Membership and awards
