Michał Oskierko
Michał Oskierko (born in 1836 in Minsk - died May 18, 1865 in Mogilev) - the insurgent commissioner of the Mogilev and Minsk provinces during the January Uprising.
He came from a noble family. He graduated from the gymnasium in Świsłoczy and the Medical Faculty of the University of Moscow. He was a freelance doctor. From 1862 he worked in the districts of Sienna and Szmian. After the outbreak of the January Uprising he went to Vilnius, where he was appointed a commissioner of the Mogilev region. After the fall of the uprising in the region he was nominated for the dignity of the Commissioner of the Minsk Region. He was arrested on November 4, 1864 while traveling by train to St. Petersburg. In the investigation, he declined to give an explanation, but his role in the uprising was revealed by his associates, when investigators gave them false information about his death.
He was shot on May 10, 1865, in Mogilev. Family and friends tried to change the verdict of Murawjow and even got his hypocritical consent. The relevant document was deliberately delivered to Mogilev after the scheduled date of execution.
