Raymond Galon


Raymond Galon (born August 14, 1906 in the Market Square, Lubawa District, June 19, 1986 in Toruń) is a Polish geographer, professor and member of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The main area of ​​interests of R. Galona was geomorphology and quaternary issues. He directed the first expedition of the geographers of Torun on Iceland's glaciers in 1968. From 1946 to 1976, he headed the cathedral (later plant) of the physical geography of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Doctor honoris causa of universities im. Adam Mickiewicz from 1983 and Nicolaus Copernicus in Toruń from that year. Member of the Polish Geological Society (since 1969), Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (since 1980).
