Werner Grahn


Werner Grahn (born January 5, 1884 - May 28, 1947) is a German war criminal, officer of the German Criminal Police and member of the Mauthausen-Gusen Concentration Camp. He achieved the rank of Unterscharführer.

As a policeman, he was the secretary of the Kriminalpolice (Kripo). From February 1944 to April 20, 1945 he was a member of the Gestapo (Politische Abteilung) in the Mauthausen camp. Grahn was in charge of the translation department. Shortly before the liberation of the camp, he participated in the shooting of prisoners who were subject to him. He also participated in other executions, as well as in cruel interrogations.

Werner Grahn was tried in the trial of Mauthausen-Gusen (US vs. Johann Altfuldisch and others) by the US Military Tribunal and sentenced to death. The sentence was made by hanging in the Landsberg prison on May 28, 1947. Bibliography
