Dynamic cardiomyoplasty

Dynamic cardiomyopathy - a cardiac surgical procedure used to treat heart failure, consisting of a myocardial infarction, by specially prepared (dissected) maxillary muscles of the patient.

This muscle was introduced into the pericardial sac after a partial resection of the ribs II and was wound on an ineffective heart muscle. By using the appropriate stimulation system, synchronization of both muscle contractions was achieved.

The procedure was performed for the first time in the world in 1985 and in Poland in 1996.

The development of other heart failure repair techniques has led to the abandonment of this surgical technique. Bibliography
