Kommando Deutsch-Arabische Truppen was created by the Germans in January 1943 in Tunisia. For the first half. Many KODAT battalion soldiers wore the French Army M1935 uniforms with German insignia and a white armband on the right shoulder with the inscription "Im Dienst der Deutschen Wehrmacht". The helmets were French and German. Officers and Non-commissioned Officers (Germans) wore German uniforms with a badge on the right shoulder labeled Orientkorps.
