Leon Więckiewicz
Ks. Leon Więckiewicz CM (born May 26, 1914 in St. Petersburg, December 4, 1944 in Gross-Rosen) - Polish Catholic priest, Servant of God of the Catholic Church.
In 1932 he joined the Congregation of the Missionaries of Saint Vincent de Paul. He was ordained priest in 1941.
He started his pastoral work in Warsaw.
After the outbreak of World War II, he was arrested on December 3, 1943 for committing the last service to the condemned and praying for their corpses. He was imprisoned at the German concentration camp in Gross-Rosen (March 30, 1944), where he died of exhaustion.
It was remembered as an indefatigable confessor and comforter of prisoners, who have saved lives many times.
He is one of the 122 Servants of God, on whose September 17, 2003, the beatification process of the second group of martyrs from the Second World War began.
He was immortalized among the martyrs at the new stained glass windows of the Zakopane-Olcza church. Internet sources
