Sekwana w Asnieres
The work belongs to a group of paintings before the evolution of style, when it was characterized by special care and freedom of the brush and color. The artist used only eight colors (including white). The paint was often squeezed straight onto the canvas. X-ray imaging showed corrections made by Renoir during the painting. There is no certainty that the work actually represents Asnières. According to some reviews this is the Chatou area, where Renoir especially painted in the late seventies. Bibliography
