AGM-122 Sidearm
AGM-122 Sidearm - American anti-aircraft missile.
In the early 1980s, the US Marine Corps began searching for a light anti-radar missile projected to be carried by helicopters and assault planes. Finally, the proposal of Motorola, which proposed the appropriate adaptation of the AIM-9C Sidewinder air-to-air missile, was finally accepted. The C version of this rocket, unlike other Sidewinder, was guided by a semi-active radar head. Shots in this version were carried exclusively by F-8 Crusader planes, and after retreating the last of the armament equipment, 885 AIM-8C missiles remained. Motorola has proposed replacing the semi-active radar head with a passive head, targeting a radar source. Targeting was to use an onboard radar warning system. AGM-122 rockets entered the USMC in the late 1980s; Transferred by Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopters and AV-8B Harrier II planes. Tactical-technical data Bibliography
