Bronisław Chyła


Bronisław Chyła (born 5 February 1911 in Berlin, died 19 February 1986 in Legnica) is a Polish artist and pedagogue. Biographical elements

He was born in a family of Polish immigrants from Pomerania. He completed his elementary school in Berlin, then advanced to precision mechanics, finishing his basic exam. At the same time he attended the Evening Technical School. He worked as a constructor, but abandoned this job by joining the Higher School of Fine Arts, where he studied graphic design for four semesters.

He actively participated in the Association of Poles in Germany. Because of the persecution he fled to Vienna. Here he undertook further studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in the master's degree, in the portrait class with professors Pauser and Boekl. In 1945 he joined the organization "Polonia Academica". He earned his living by restoring paintings, drawing and painting portraits. In 1947 he graduated with a very good result. He belonged to the Polish Scouting Association in Germany in his youth. He was touring. In 1929 he went to Poland for a scouting camp, and a few years later he went on a hike to Italy. Immediately after graduation, he returned home with his family.

He settled in Legnica. He started his work as a drawing teacher at the Pedagogical High School in Legnica. In 1951-1956 he taught at the State High School in Wroclaw. After returning to Legnica, he worked in almost all secondary schools. He set up a fireworks at the Municipal House of Culture. Since 1964, he has taught at the Teachers' Training School as head of the faculty. Artistic activity

He began his artistic career in 1949, taking part in the exhibition of Wrocław's ZPAP in Katowice. His first solo exhibition took place in 1952. He has been a member of the ZPAP since 1950, serving as the president of his Wroclaw branch for many years, and then the branch of the Copper Basin. In 1977 he was appointed by the Ministry of Culture and Art to be an expert in contemporary art.

Bronisław Chyła was the creator of the Legnica artistic community, a figure whose focus was on the successive generations of local artists. In 1969, under the patronage of B. Chyla, the Castle Group, or the group of plastics teachers, organized the first joint show of works in the Castle lobby. In 1970 the Group organized its first exhibition in the Legnica Copper District Museum.

For artistic and pedagogical activities he was awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Art and also by the Ministry of Education. In 1974 he received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He was the first laureate of the city of Legnica. He also received a Merit badge for Lower Silesia.
