Charles Hazelius Sternberg


Charles Hazelius Sternberg (born June 15, 1850, July 20, 1943) is an American amateur bone collector and paleontologist, father of Charles Mortram Sternberg. During the Bone War, along with his two sons George and Levim, he worked for Edward Drinker Cope seeking fossils of dinosaurs in Kansas. In 1911 he began work for the Geological Survey of Canada. He and his sons had a large share of the rich fossils in the Red Deer Valley, Alberta.

Fossils collected by Charles H. Sternberg, including dinosaurs discovered in the western United States and Canada, are on display and in collections of leading museums in North America and Europe. Creation Authoritative control (person):
